Born in 1977 in the center of France, Olivier Militon grew up surrounded by music and the arts. His passion for music first manifested when he learnt to sing and to play the guitar. Having been introduced to the cinema at a young age he became fascinated with film scores as a form of musical expression.
Firstly he started a career as a statistician for eight years however music remained very present. He studied in the Department of Music and Musicology at the University of Lyon II, and the CNR in Lyon (class of electroacoustic composition). He also performed as a guitarist-singer in a band. Musician, Composer and cinephile, he never stopped to cultivate a very visual approach to music, so he naturally oriented himself towards a Professional Master of applied music on Visual Arts (Master MAAAV).
In 2009 he started working as a Composer Sound Designer and began to teach the relationships between images and sounds at the Annecy musical Academy and the Gobelins’ Paris high School in 2013.
Emergence Cinéma Laureate and Berlinale Talents 2015, he won several european and international soundtracks prizes, including the European Talent Award at the Soundtrack Cologne festival and the Jerry Goldsmith Awards at the Cordoba international Soundtracks Festival.
He has eclectic musical inspirations, and his style is marked by the influence of classical and contemporary music, jazz and electronic music. His method consists on listening and actively observing the imagery of reality of each scenario.
